Install evaluation JIRA 4.2 on personal VPS

In previous employment, I inherited a custom/manual JIRA installation on a physical (later VMWare but still stand-alone) box and was used to administering only it.  Fastforward to JIRA 4.2 which gobbles ram for breakfast, my desire to have my own JIRA instance, and an existing VPS (Virtual Private Server) account suitable only for apache + mysql apps.

Google Gmail allows a different signature per each account in multiple accounts

gmail each send as account has its own signature now Maybe I'm late to the party, but working for multiple design agencies, I've been wanting gmail to support multiple signatures ever since I had begun drupal freelancing. Turns out, now (since when?) you can!

Local Drupal meet-ups in Bryan / College Station / TAMU / Brazos County

Looking for other Drupalers in the area, I searched drupal bryan college station and came up with nothing-- not even my own website! Instead, I only received partial, anonymous (and non-SEO) mention on this Austin Drupal blog post and thought I'd better do something about it.

Great software, support, sense of humor, and a healthy business to boot!

Back when I used to work support as a student worker, I enjoyed the clients who took the time to show appreciation for my help and time; I also understood those that were always in a grumpy mood or were too haughty to consider me more than "computer guy."  As a client, I always take the time to put out an extra "thanks," because I can appreciate what support goes through.  Recently, my silliness got the better of me on a support thread, but FreshBooks support bested me!

Developing in Drupal on a Mac - my journey from 0 to 60

Drupal Development Environment on Mac
Thought I would catalog my journey of setting of new MacBook for development of Drupal. For this, I imagine I will need a LAMP stack (I've read that it's better not to use the one that comes with Mac for some reason?) and decent code editor.

I am coming from Windows/Linux

I just learned that my name appears in an academic article!

I just learned from the author of this paper with whom I worked at the start of his study that they included my name in the acknowledgments right on the first page:

How very exciting!

Does or will Microsoft.MSXML support XSLT 2.0? No. Check out the System.xml framework

This straight from MSDN:

Will MSXML support XSLT 2.0?

No. MSXML versions 4.0 and later fully implement and support XSL Transformations (XSLT) Version 1.0 (W3C Recommendation 16 November 1999). If your XML application requires a later version of XSLT, Microsoft strongly recommends moving to the newer System.Xml framework classes, because all future XML development efforts will be focused there.

MSXML here refers to all versions of MSXML in IE as the latest version when invoked with something like:

ScanLife: Barcodes for everyday cell phone linking!

)

I was blown away by the simplicity of ScanLife.com. Create a free, personal account, download the software, and you can make your own clicky little barcodes, too!

I guess the social networking enthusiast might plaster his neighborhood with wall-sized printouts of these and some secret message.. I wonder what you could come up with?

DDB - a Drupal DDB Builder for building distributions on the fly

Ok, this is an unfair cross-post, but it's my cross-post, so comment where you will.. Either way, you'll have to wade through the copious collection of spam comments before I see it and approve...  What's this about captcha?

Here's what I posted on lullabot after listening to a great podcast:

Because all good projects need a name, I would start there: DDB ("Drupal DDB Builder").

Dog Licks Screen Clean Flash Screensaver

I tried and tried to keep it low-key on the down-low but my favorite email service gmail refused to let me send to me and my small circle of friends this executable, so here it is on my website instead.

Attached to this post is a downloadable screensaver of a pugsley (sp) puppy dog licking the monitor from the inside of the computer. Adorable.  But I'd have kicked it outside if I caught a mangy mutt doing that to my 24" Dell flat panel!

I take no credit for the awesomeness that is this video clip; I just used MDM Zinc to wrap it in a .scr screensaver and .exe windows installer.  If you'd like it for the Mac, not sure I can help ya there... enjoy!
