Whatever the shape – when you use
guides to which the edges of the desired shape snap, the borders of the shape are still and don't run away causing smudged borders. You have to remember to insert an <strong>integer</strong> value in the 'New Guide...' dialog box - this ensures borders to stay in between adjacent pixels. This equally concerns predefined shapes, paths and custom shapes.

This has been bugging me for so long now (I just didn't take the time to check it out properly for some reason) and this solution works perfectly. It's actually a really bizaar solution but I really appreciate it.

Adobe really need to correct this.

This has been driving me crazy all day! Before I read this article I had been putting layer masks on all of my shapes and had to remove the anti-aliasing manually with the pencil tool. That was such a pain in the ass.

I googled "photoshop + shape anti aliasing?" and this was one of the first articles I saw. It was EXACTLY what I needed!

With a deadline due in a few hours, and spending the last 15 minutes trying to turn off a non-existant antialiasing setting, I was almost on the verge of smashing something. Grrrrrraaaghh!!

For me an option in CS3 that was a little bit hidden has fixed this issue with shape layers. It seemed that whenever I created a solid square for instance there would be a pixel border around it that was transparent, wasn't pixel perfect as I need for solid shapes and made things fuzzy at 100%. I've posted a pic of how to enable the fix option for this in CS3 at http://wgboyd.com/snap-to-pixels.jpg Basically after selecting the shape tool, you can use the drop down chevron next to the custom shape icon on the tool bar. That option dialog has an unchecked option for "Snap to Pixels." After checking that my issues have gone away. =)
