My Motorola Q9c on Sprint running Windows Mobile 6 freezes up intolerably, inoperably very frequently, and I have confirmed the same behavior with other friends' moto-Q's. If anyone has any insight into what's causing it and how to work around it, PLEASE let me know! I check for updates almost daily, the frequency of which is surpassed only by the number of times I restart the device in a day!!
My daily operations: I have two imap accounts sync'd at 15min intervals ea. I take a few pictures a week for photo-blogging.
Sometimes I get a Running Low on Memory error. (WHY??) And this with 9MB Device Storage and over 20MB RAM free.
Trolling for email was one suspect, but I have seen the device freeze with both email accounts set to check only manually. Cleaning out old pictures may or may not be helping. I was told to suspect the typing-auto-completion feature by one user. An online post suggested a work around, but it's a farce, I'm afraid. I thought it might be web-browsing (clearing out IE cache appears to help sometimes?), but it's not consistent.
How do Device Storage vs. RAM differ in Windows Mobile/Motorola Q?

you can see my saga in gorey detail. Basically, I master-/factory- reset the device, added an SD, and shifted as much as I could off to that new storage card as opposed to internal memory. While at it, I went ahead and pulled the latest Q update from Motorola.
Now 24hrs later, I'm still screaming at "Sprint Speed" with no complaints.

Odd part is it just started happening over the past month - went away for 2 wks after doing all the things you mentioned - then back again this week - argh!
moto-Q9c is not for me
Well, I spent many hours researching phones narrowed down to Motorola Q and the Samsung Blackjack ultimately favoring the Q9c. Â I think it's a decent machine, but the operating system, Windows Mobile 6.1 leaves much to be desired-- speed, configurability, .. heck, it's almost missing the "Smart" in "smart phone!"
Anyhow, all to say that even though I've had the phone for less than 6 months, I am anxious to enter the cell phone market again soon. Â It's just such a hassle!
Thanks for your comment. I've not experienced a return of the high cpu but have had little hang-ups here and there, and out of the blue, the phone will restart. Â Your symptoms may be email-checking network connectivity interruption issues, or maybe it is something with the Windows Update checker.

cpu problem
This is actually an easy fix. Once you open up the task manager, you MUST exit out of it using the right softkey. You should NOT "home" out of it. If you press the home key to exit the task manager, it locks up the CPU. I have run into this before on my q9m and the above fix keeps things running smooth. Go ahead and try it. Open the Task Manager and see what the CPU is going at, then home out. Go back into TM and you will see the CPU at 100%, then right softkey and choose exit. Go back to TM and CPU will be running at normal speed.
Also if you are having text typing slowdowns, make sure predictive text is OFF. You still have to clear out the input history though once a week to be safe. Go to settings, text input settings, right softkey (menu)clear input history.
