My HTC Hero touch screen android glass broke but still works fine

Woe to me.. Business is bad:

Yes, that's my HTC Hero. A beautiful piece of machinery running Android 2.2, with a screen shattered to bits because I was trying to call ahead for lunch after Mass, and my 2yr old in my arms accidentally knocked it from my hands. You're not supposed to curse right in the church parking lot, but bad things aren't supposed to happen to good people, either!

I remember you snickering at me buying this bulky shell for mytouch. I think $20 is worth the investment... Glad to see you still have display, maybe you only lost the touch glass. (some optimism there)

I don't know if it's because I'm one of the nice customers, one that doesn't come in and bite their heads off.. one that doesn't come in shootin', expecting the phone provider to pay for expensive entertaininment SMS subscriptions... But at any rate, they say they'll swap out the screen for me for free, so I'm filled with glee.
